Elementary STREAMS and Outdoor Environment 02.22.2020
Hello Elementary Montessori Parents,
Last week in STREAMS we worked on storyboarding in groups for the video that we are working on. We discussed the types of media that can be used to make stop-motion videos, including clay, paper, LEGOS, and more. We watched several stop motion shorts made by other elementary age students, and discussed what will be possible in our own video.
We also did a silent garden observation followed by a writing prompt about what we noticed in the garden. 1-3 graders also worked on their February sit spots, where we noticed that there have been many subtle changes in the garden (spring is definitely right around the corner, and everything is blooming). We harvested broccoli and tomatoes, and cilantro was sampled as well.
The milk cartons that we have been collecting have been washed, sorted, and inventoried. We have 172 cartons of various sizes, and we are now working on our plan to get them out into the garden during the first week of March! We plan to fill them with a variety of flowers, herbs, and succulents. We will continue to collect milk cartons through 3/6. Thank you for your contributions!
Thank you to the families that were able to come out last weekend and help with our final Atlantis décor prep day. We had a lot of fun sanding, painting, and playing. Tickets are still available in the front office and online, if you want to join us on 2/29!
